With the economy going the way it is going, saving money is at the top of many of our priorities. There is a lot of things you can do to save a little cash, here are some quick ideas to get you going.
- Find a little cash to put into a savings account every month.
- Create a budget and make sure you and your family stick to it.
- Learn DIY, simple jobs can be done by yourself and save hundreds.
- Stop eating out. Even small purchases such as a sandwich can add up.
- Get crafty and start making your own cards and gifts. The effort is appreciated by many.
- Always go during sale time if you need to go shopping.
- Trawl the internet for coupons. Companies hike up their prices so that they can give discounts
- Visit your local library for books and dvds instead of buying or renting.
- Consider buying second hand goods, especially electronics as their price goes down quickly.
- Make sure you keep your possessions in good repair so you don’t have to replace them.
- Write a shopping list of needed items and stick to it
- Visit your local bulk buy store and buy in bulk.

I was looking for some more money saving tips, looks like I came to the right place. I think we’re all in need of some cost cutting advice with the big (dare I say it?) RECESSION looming. Top advice!

Hey Phil, Thanks for stopping by…. We all just need to do a few small little things and we can really cut our spending. I guess we won’t stop a recession but we may be able to make our own live a little easier during hard times.

When my clients want to save money but are stumped as to how, I challenge them to make three lists: $100/month, $500/month and $1,000/month. They often claim it’s impossible, but suddenly have one idea and then more start quickly flow. Then, I really shock them by pointing out that a $500/month savings = an extra $6,000 in after tax money in your pocket every year. Small savings can indeed add up to big things!

I vouch for tip#3 and tip #7. Good stuff. In these times of penny pinching every bit helps.

Great Tips, Forest.
I like that you encourage eating at home and budgeting. I, personally, recommend making coffee at home, and paying cash. I wonder what would happen if everyone simply paid cash this holiday season?

Awesome idea, coffee is a huge expense in the usa…. even if you drink the finest coffee at home its cheaper than buying a cup every morning…. if everyone paid cash we would lose some credit card companies…. a good thing as far as i am concerned
