Keep That New Year’s Resolution Going Strong!

We are getting close to the end of January, if you made a New Year’s Resolution, are you still staying on track with it?  It’s easy as one year ends and the new one arrives to make grandiose plans and goals.  It is alot more difficult to follow through.  Here are some tips and tricks for having success with your resolutions:

1.       For each resolution, set milestones or steps that you will work towards.  As you complete a milestone, celebrate!  It makes it easier to keep moving towards the end goal.

2.       Tell others about your resolutions.  When others know what you are doing and even ask you about your progress there is an additional incentive to stick with the plan and to succeed.

3.       List the reasons why you have set this resolution.  Each time that you feel like giving up review that list.  Even better, look at it first thing in the morning to keep your motivation strong.

The benefit of the arrival of a New Year is that we each get to start fresh.  So when you look at your New Year’s Resolution for 2009, know that by taking it one step at a time you can be successful this year with your new goals.

Tips for Online Coupons?

Tips for Online Coupons?

Do You Currently Use Online Coupons?

As the economy worsens, and, unfortunately, I don’t think we have seen the worst yet, people are looking for more ways to stretch their budgets. That, in addition to the onset of extreme growth in online shopping, came the introduction of Online Coupons and coupon codes. They are not always referred to as coupon codes. Other names include key codes, voucher codes, promo codes, source codes, shopping codes and promotional codes. There are probably other names that I have not heard about, but these are some of the common ones.

Coupon codes are basically a way for online companies to provide you with a discount or service like free shipping. They usually offer a specific discount percentage. This encourages people who are thinking about making a purchase from their company anyhow.

Many companies have coupon codes online, especially those who do most of their selling online. There are numerous sites to which you can go to find coupon codes. The Internet is definitely the reason for the invention of these codes. It would not be convenient or practical for online vendors to require you to cut out and mail a paper coupon to them. Thanks to the Internet, the use of online coupons has really grown; and with the downturn of the economy, they will probably only increase in popularity.

Below are a few interesting coupon sites:

Tips on setting up a new blog in the cheapest way.

1000s of people are starting new blogs and websites every day. You may well be one of them…. This post will show you one of the cheapest ways to set up a highly professional yet easy to manage blog on a small budget.

wordpress

You could use your brand new blog for literally anything from a personal blog about your pet to a serious business blog aimed at getting new customers.

I always recommend Wordpress for a professional and highly customizable blog but there are other options such as Blogspot and GoDaddy.

So here you go.

Get a Domain Name: I recommend GoDaddy and also purchasing a dot com. With this code “OYH3″ to get a $2.50 discount and get your dot com domain for $7.45

Get Hosting: Recently I have been using HostGator and have been very pleased. Their cheapest package allows you to get monthly hosting for just $4.95…. Plus if you use this code “wordpress” or “jury” it should get you 1c hosting for the first month.

Set up Wordpress: Great thing with Hostgator is that Fantastico (that can be found in cpanel) allows you to get Wordpress set up in the click of a button.

Get a Theme: There are tons of free Wordpress themes available. One great thing that is happening right now is that some premium themes are becoming free! Try Revolution (from Nov 1st).

That is pretty much it…. You are ready to start writing.

Tips For Job Interviews

Are you always nervous when going to job interviews? Or are you still wondering why the last employer that you applied for didn’t accept your application? Maybe you have to learn more about tips on job interview…

  1. Think of questions that you think the employer might ask you and practice answering them.
  2. Research about the company. The employer will be impressed if you know what you’re getting yourself into and if you took the time and effort to research on it.
  3. Prepare your attire for the interview the night before. Wear smart casual or semi-formal attires. It depends on the company.
  4. Sleep early and eat well so that you will have energy and a clear mind when answering questions.
  5. Be on time. Thirty minutes early is good to have time to refresh yourself after the drive or commute.
  6. Don’t forget your resume and portfolio. This should include pertinent information about work experience (if you have), skills, and background information. Also bring some projects that you have done or certificates that you have achieved. Bring them, just in case, but don’t brag about them.
  7. During the interview, be polite, calm, and confident in answering questions. Smile to the interviewer when appropriate.
  8. Don’t ask about salary, compensation, benefits, holidays, leaves, or vacations on the very first interview. You can ask about these on the second or third interview, if there are.
  9. Look at the interviewer’s eyes, sit straight, and don’t fidget.
  10. After the interview, shake the interviewer’s hand firmly. When you arrive home, send a ‘thank you email’ even if you’re still not sure whether or not you got the job.

Great tip to stay organized - Start a TO DO list.

Great tip to stay organized - Start a TO DO list.

I found recently that I was forgetting a lot of small work related tasks and in some cases letting people down. I knew that I had to do something about this before I started annoying people and losing work. So I decided to start a TO DO list.

A TO DO list is something that I feel everybody should be using. If done efficiently you will not forget things and annoying little tasks that have to be done will be staring at you everytime you look at it. I find this forces me to get them out of the way.

How should you go about creating and maintaining your TO DO list?

I used to use a paper list and although this can be done, it has it’s own problems, such as being stuffed in a pocket or left in a bag. So I suggest using Google Docs.

Google have a very easy to use cool document suite that is easily accessible and will take minutes for you to set up. They also offer an offline syncronisation of all your docs, allowing you to work offline too. When you log in to Google Docs, the on and offline documents are synced.

So get yourself a Google Account and start using Google docs today. You will increase your productivity and organization without too much extra work.

6 Cooking Tips for the Busy Mom

Are you a supermom who works for nine hours a day, five days a week and still has to prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner for your whole family everyday? Here are some useful cooking tips for busy moms like you.

  1. Plan your family’s meals for the whole week. Don’t waste time thinking of the things that you need to buy when you’re already in the grocery.. Moreover, this can relieve you from the stress of having to think of the meal that you have to prepare when you arrive home everyday.
  2. After you’ve bought everything that you need, prepare all the vegetables by washing and cutting them. You ca even prepare the vegetables that you need for the next days’ meals. Just make sure that they are kept in a safe, nice place that will keep them fresh. This may look time-consuming but in the long run, can actually save you more time.
  3. Buy a crock pot. You can put all of the ingredients into the crock pot and you can leave it alone when it’s time to go to work. When you return, dinner is just about ready.
  4. Prepare your family’s favourite dish. You can make a whole lot of this for three or four meals. Just keep each meal in the freezer and just take it out and reheat it when you need it.
  5. Plan a big meal for dinner and keep the leftovers for the next day’s meal. For example, if you made chilli for dinner today, you can add the leftover chilli to your baked potatoes for tomorrow’s dinner.
  6. Think of ingredients that could stretch a meal such as potatoes, rice, and pasta.
