Twitter is a free social networking or you can call it a micro-blogging service. This service enables its users to send and read each others’ updates, known as tweets. Tweets are text based posts of up to only 140 characters, displayed on top of the users profile page and forwarded to other users known as followers, who have subscribed to your profile page.

Senders can allow or restrict delivery of messages to their circle of friends. Users can now send or receive tweets via  SMS (Short Message Service) or external applications. This service is free over the internet but your mobile provider may incur a fee.

Jack Dorsey, the creator of Twitter back in 2006 has gained notability and popularity worldwide. Twitter is now described as the SMS of the internet.

Everyone can use Twitter even celebrities are post their own tweets.  To set up your own Twitter account:

1. Go to www.Twitter.com

2. Click on Sign Up Now

3. Enter information in the 5 fields

4. Now, with so many users the username you may like, maybe already taken so try using a hyphen or underscore for example: JaneSmith user name is taken so try Jane_Smith or Jane-Smith

5. Now your ready to join the conversion
